Sicily part 2 – damp but sexy

Day 2: Siracusa, Noto

Next day we took our little car, packed everything and headed to Siracusa, a historic city rich on Greek history, architecture and culture. It reminded me a bit of Dubrovnik in Croatia, but with much easier and cheaper parking. We tried the cutest and most expensively touristic ice-cream here and did our first cocktail hour.

Anja even dipped her feet into the sea, as the temperatures got higher.

It is important to note that Sicilian food schedule differs from traditional European eating hours. Basically, when we were hungry for lunch, restaurants were mostly closed. But you can easily order cocktails and get a huge spread of food with it. Generally, locals here eat much later than we do in Slovenia. After getting a bit tipsy, we headed to cute, little Noto. In the off-season you can easily park a bit out of the fairly small city center for free, walk to the “main street” and enjoy the baroque sights.

We then headed to lovely Agriturismo Terra dei limoni, in the middle of lemon fields.

We tried doing Avola for dinner, but off-season it had a bit of a strange vibe, since we were two women traveling solo, so we headed back for dinner to Noto.

Day 3: Modica, Ragusa

On day three, we headed to Modica, where we got lost searching for a chocolate factory, which we never found at the end. But we did find lots of places offering Modican chocolate of lots of different shapes and tastes.

We finished our day with a sleep-over in Ragusa, which is separated into old Ragusa Ibla and newer Ragusa Superiore. Since the bad weather was kind of following us, we only did a bit of a walk-around here, a dinner and decided to get drunk asap. It was damp and we were both eager to get out of Ragusa and to Agrigento the next day.
