In destination bucket list you can read about our travel wishes, but we all know wishes are usually somewhat different from reality. 🙂 But even so, I am set on traveling as much as I can even with limited vacation days and money, obviously. 🙂
If you are following us on social media you already know that our first destination for this year is Oman in February. If you aren’t following us yet, you should. 😛 People are somehow really surprised when you say that you are going to Oman, asking us “Why?” and “Is there even anything to see there” type of questions. Travel bloggers are waaay ahead of the crowds on this topic. If you are following Putoholičari or Wejusttravel Instagram accounts you know that Oman is already “on the map” of destinations that need to be visited asap. Especially if you are not into crowds of tourists blocking your view. I also haven’t seen it on any “Go to destinations in 2019”, which makes it perfect for us. It is going to be quite an adventurous trip, but more on this topic and how to prepare for a trip to Oman in one of the next posts. We are breaking our tradition with this trip, as we are flying from Ljubljana Airport. If you want to go to Oman check it out – there are really cool offers available.
Our next travel destination will probably be a weekend of R&R in March in our home country Slovenia. Sometimes we forget how beautiful our country is and also how easily reachable everything is. In an hour of driving, you can reach vineyards, ski slopes, seaside, castles and basically everything else in between. My mind is set on a romantic weekend somewhere in Goriška Brda.
As we cannot stay home for too long we are visiting one of the bucket list destinations in May. We are going to Turkey, more precisely – Istanbul and Cappadocia with its colorful hot air balloons, which you have probably already seen flooding the Instagram accounts in the past few years. I am betting we’re going to be no exception when it comes to this. We are breaking another tradition on this trip. We are usually more adventurous when it comes to our accommodations when traveling – sleeping in the car and such. I tried to set a limit to “not sleeping with cockroaches” which can get difficult to achieve in Asia. But this trip we’re going to enjoy the pleasantness of a few really cool hotels – like Kelebek Special Cave Hotel in Cappadocia. This is going to be a first for us. We’ve never stayed in a hotel for more than a day or two at a time before, especially not a fancy one.
Following a really bad experience of crowds, crazy heat & crazy food poisoning while camping in Croatia in August a few years ago, we decided to skip summer holidays altogether. We are thinking of a short city trip, somewhere in Scandinavia. As we have never been to Scandinavia before, we are collecting cool travel ideas in comments and on our social media accounts. Drop us a comment/travel idea.
This is it for the first half of the year. With both of us working this is probably close to the maximum of days on the road we can do anyway. But we’ll be back soon with travel plans for the second half of the year.
