Asia Japan Travel

Japan vs. Poland

Žiga arrived from Slovenia, which marks the end of my solo 19 days in Asia. Traveling as a couple is a bit different than solo travel, I’ll let you know how in one of the future posts. 🙂 He arrived tired, jetlagged but happy to be here and I didn’t give him too much time to rest. We headed to “my previous neighborhood” Kagurazaka for dinner. Kagurazaka used to be an entertainment district with geisha houses and restaurants. Now it is a cute shopping and dining district between Iidabashi and Kagurazaka stations with lots of French cafes and ideal for all sorts of food fans in general. It has a relaxed vibe and is quite “empty” in terms of the crowd on the streets compared to other parts of Tokyo.

After relaxation in Kagurazaka and the best dinner I’ve had since coming to Asia – hence no pics, it was time to shock Žiga with a bit of Shinjuku madness.

We headed for a little unforgettable karaoke session with friends and continued our evening in a Hub pub in Kabukicho where we watched the football match Japan vs. Poland. We had to pay admission to the bar, but we got scarves – I managed to lose mine already (due to drinks included in the price of admission) 🙂 – and an unbelievable atmosphere, even for the people who are not exactly football fans. We had an awesome evening, even though Japan technically lost, but still managed to qualify for World Cup.

After the game, we barely managed to get ourselves into a super expensive taxi and due to magic words: “Akihabara ni, eki tai des” also to the train/metro station closest to our super fancy, IOT hostel – &And hostel Akihabara.

We had a collective “jet-lag” next day.
