After two days of being pretty much unproductive, I started feeling a bit bad. It was my last day in Busan and the only thing I did was lay on the beach. So I decided to visit Gamcheon Culture Village – the Macchu Picchu of Busan and the nearby Jagalchi fish market.
If you travel to Gamcheon by Metro to Toseong Station, you have to walk around 1.3 km to the Village. What Naver doesn’t tell you is that there is a huge hill you have to climb. There is also a bus – I saw them driving past me when I was climbing the hill at 31°C. 😀 The village has its tourist info center, where you can buy a map, which I decided I did not need since my orientation is so good these days. (Laughing to myself).
The village is this cute, artsy, colorful place, with lots of Instagrammable places, where people stand in line in the heat just to take a photo and are buying souvenirs like crazy. Or it is a place, where you meet a new friend as I did. Maybe it is easier to connect with people while traveling, or I and Elif from Turkey just clicked, as it sometimes happens.
We were both happy to have some English speaking company and decided to spend the rest of the day together – walking, talking and taking lots of pics.
All of the walking we did made us hungry, so we continued our trip at Jagalchi Fish Market, where most of the things are very much alive 5 minutes before you eat them. So dinner is definitely fresh here. 🙂
We concluded the day with drinks at Gwangalli Beach, listening to a concert and watching the mindblowing Gwangalli Bridge with thousands of LED lights creating a beautiful performance.
Honestly, I could have seen much more of Busan, but I had an awesome time being lazy. I loved the city and would definitely go back to explore it some more. What surprised me was, that there were a lot of non-Asian tourists here. Probably the most I’ve seen since coming to Asia anyway.
In the evening I managed to unpack everything and part with some things from my backpack as well as prepared others for sending home from the airport (self-high-five).
