I checked out Insadong and Gangnam already so on my third (and last) day in Seoul, I visited the shopping district – Myeong-Dong. There are tons of shops everywhere on the two main shopping streets. I am lucky I don’t know anything about cosmetics, otherwise, I’d probably go crazy. But, I just walked around a bit, checked out the Innis cosmetics – the one store my Korean roommate recommended since it is from her home island Jeju. I don’t have much patience for shopping, nor the space in my backpack to do it anyway.
So I went to find the next stop on the list – N Seoul Tower. I came from the Myeong-Dong side, but you can walk up to it from Namsan Park also. I am not sure how long the walk is, but from Myeong-Dong side you can take the cable car to the top. I just walked around a bit, soaked in the view.
We were in Berlin and saw Fernsehturm recently, so I didn’t really have a need to go up to the tower – the view is great from below anyway. Maybe I’d be more impressed if I hadn’t seen Victoria Peak recently. Otherwise lots of love locks everywhere and picture taking props in general. Honestly, I would probably enjoy it more, if I came here in the evening for the sunset and the lights, so I quickly headed back to Myeong-Dong for the biggest ice-cream ever.
PS: There are not a lot of trash cans, better to just eat the whole thing.
I was sort of without a plan for the rest of the day, so I decided to visit the highest building in Korea and the 5th highest building in the world – Lotte World Tower. It was probably the most impressive thing I’ve seen since my arrival in Korea. The whole experience is just worth the time and money.
I was like a happy kiddo on top of the world – couldn’t even speak on the phone properly, so Žiga gave up on getting something useful out of me.
PS: There is a really beautiful animation of a tree through the seasons in the lobby before you get up to the tower.
I concluded my day with the best matcha tea and matcha cheesecake in Insadong. So you see – I am eating. 😉
